What this sample shows
This excerpt shows the approach and one fictional decision record from the full AI Strategy Working Pack. The complete pack includes the workshop sequence, six worksheet types with blank and example versions, a value-assumption method, roadmap and executive decision memo, plus ten contextual prompts.
A usable opportunity statement
Describe the person, task, available input, proposed output and human decision retained. For example: “Help a coordinator categorize an internal service request using approved category definitions, with the coordinator confirming every assignment.” This makes scope and review responsibilities visible before choosing a solution.
Assess business value, feasibility, data, ownership, acceptable risk and testability using reasons and evidence. Mark each as promising, needs evidence or blocked. A universal numerical total can hide a consequential unresolved issue. Keep the reason and the next evidence needed alongside the assessment.
Fictional example: the first decision
| Opportunity | Current evidence | Next decision |
|---|---|---|
| Category suggestions | A hypothetical walkthrough suggests repeated interpretation. Handling effort and approved sample access remain unknown. | Investigate the baseline and data questions. No deployment approval. |
| Internal update drafts | A feature in an existing approved tool may be relevant. It has not been assessed. | Evaluate existing capability before commissioning work. |
The recommendation depends on the evidence available. It should change if the baseline reveals little avoidable work, category definitions remain unresolved or the proposed review burden is too high.
Excerpt from the decision memo template
| Field | Working prompt |
|---|---|
| Decision requested | What commitment is being sought: investigation, pilot preparation or implementation? |
| Evidence and uncertainty | Which sources support the problem, and which material inputs remain unknown? |
| Boundaries | What activities and actions are explicitly outside scope? |
| Decision gate | What evidence is required before the next commitment? |
Using the full pack
Work through the guide with the workflow owner and relevant systems and decision owners. Keep stable opportunity IDs across the editable CSV worksheets. The files provide structured records, not automatic financial forecasts. Any value calculation must use your observed inputs and explicit assumptions. All examples in the sample and full pack are fictional.
